How a 1:1 breathwork session works
A Conscious Connected Breathwork session is not about forcing your mind to be quiet. It is an active, guided process that helps you move out of your head and reconnect with your body.
We connect
Before anything else, we talk. In your free 30-minute intro call, you can share what is going on, ask questions and get a feel for whether breathwork is the right fit.
I explain how the session works, what you can expect and which format may suit you best.
We breathe
Each session starts with a short check-in and grounding meditation. Then I guide you into Conscious Connected Breathwork while you sit or lie down comfortably.
You hear my voice throughout the session. There is music, space and guidance. No experience or special equipment needed.
You land
After the active breathing, there is time to rest and let the experience settle. This gives your nervous system space to soften and your body time to process.
In a 90-minute session, this includes guided journalling and reflection.
The cost of high pressure
High pressure does not only live in your calendar. It lives in your body, your breathing, your sleep, your digestion, your decision-making and the way you react when one more thing lands on your plate.
Cognitive load
You can still function, but everything takes more effort. Your brain is open, but your bandwidth is gone.
Survival mode
The body stays alert. Breath becomes shallow. Muscles stay tense. Rest does not fully feel like rest.
Emotional compression
You keep moving, but unprocessed stress builds underneath the surface. Eventually, small things feel bigger than they should.
Presenteeism
You are there, but not fully there. Processing slows. Focus scatters. Your body is present, but your system is overloaded.
Breathwork gives the body a direct route back to regulation. Not by thinking harder, but by shifting the state your thinking is happening from.
The science of the shift
Your breath is one of the few systems in the body that is both automatic and conscious. That makes it a powerful access point for stress regulation and nervous system recovery.
From fight-or-flight to rest-and-recover
Under pressure, the sympathetic nervous system keeps you alert. This can be useful in short bursts, but when it becomes your baseline, the body struggles to repair, digest, rest and emotionally process.
Conscious Connected Breathwork uses a guided breathing rhythm to bring awareness, movement and release into the system. It can support the shift from constant activation into a more regulated state.
The aim is not to force calm. The aim is to give your body enough structure and safety to complete what it has been holding.
What this may support
- More conscious breathing patterns
- A calmer stress response
- Greater body awareness
- Emotional discharge and release
- Improved capacity to pause before reacting
- A clearer sense of internal steadiness
Research into breathwork is still developing. At Inner Shift Wellness, the work is science-informed, grounded and non-clinical. It is not a replacement for medical or psychological treatment.
Frequently asked questions
I have trouble shutting my mind down. Will this work for me?
That is exactly why breathwork can be useful. You do not need to clear your mind first. The breath gives your body something direct to follow, which can help you move out of mental overdrive and into a more embodied state.
How does an online session compare to an in-person session in Berlin or Breda?
Online sessions work well because you can stay in your own space and integrate quietly afterwards. In-person sessions in Berlin or Breda can feel more held and immersive. Both formats are guided carefully and adapted to your needs.
Is Conscious Connected Breathwork safe?
For many people, yes, when facilitated responsibly. Breathwork can be intense, so I always work with an intake, clear guidance and space to slow down or pause. It may not be suitable for everyone, including people with certain medical, psychiatric or pregnancy-related contraindications. If in doubt, please check with a medical professional first.
Is this spiritual?
The work can feel meaningful, emotional or even profound, but my approach is grounded and practical. No crystals. No vague promises. No pressure to have a certain kind of experience.
Can I invoice this through my company’s professional development or wellness budget?
In many cases, professionals choose to book breathwork as part of personal development, stress regulation or wellbeing support. I can provide an invoice. Please check internally with your company to see what is covered.
You are not here to keep surviving your own ambition.
You are capable of building, leading, creating and carrying responsibility. But you are not meant to do it from a body that is constantly bracing.
The next level is not more discipline. It is more capacity. More space before you react. More steadiness when pressure rises. More connection to yourself while life keeps moving.
If something in you knows it is time to stop pushing through and start regulating properly, begin with a conversation.
